Cabs ah eaaaah!!

Translation: Cabs are here.

Jersey Shore is now over, yes, but they remain on air in our hearts. This summer/fall, watching the cast of the obscene show was, believe it or not, our family time. Every Wednesday we would remind each other throughout the day/plan our night activities around the trashiest show ever created (maybe besides Maury...the baby isn't mine, hoe). We call it family time. Sometimes, guests would join, but only for a night. They would always make the mistake of talking when it wasn't a commercial break. If there is one rule to family night, that would be it. If you need to say something, unless someone died or you won the lottery, it can wait until commercial. Obviously they wouldn't join us again because of the violent "shhhh"ing they would receive. We must hear everything. ESPECIALLY when PaulyD and/or Vinny are speaking. Leniency is given only in the following situations.
1. Sammy and Ronnie are fighting. We've heard it all before.
2. Deena is talking.
3. The Situation is wearing a neck brace. No one cares.
But only in these situations, and since these situations didn't happen very often, talking can wait.
Many good times were had and memories were made, but I think most importantly, we all realized how intelligent we actually are. Which is always nice.

The Legend of the One Handed Woman

There we were, sitting in the living room. Wesley, Raechel, Ryan and I were all in the living room...chillin. Everyone else had gone to bed, the only one you need know about in particular is Lucas. Anyways, back to the living room. We were playing some cards, drinking some buds when all of a sudden, our porch flood light came on.
 ps-it's 2:30am
Raechel, immediately slides to the floor. She...probably all of us...think its some rando drunkard. Ryan, sitting right in front of the window, turns around and peeks out. He whispers back, "it's a girl. she has a bike." At this point, I am no longer scared, I think she is one of two people. The first being one of our many female neighbors, the second being someone Lucas had called when we all started hanging out earlier that night (around 1030). However, I must've been the only one with this thought process because Raechel remained on the floor and the guys continued to stay in their seats.
Ryan continues watching through the window, "she is trying to get her bike up the steps. she is tiny. she only has....no way....she only has one hand", he says. "SHE WHAT?!?! what is going on?!!" Raechel says - still whispering. Next thing we know, she is jiggling the door knob to enter our house. No knock, no nothing. Rude. At this point, Wes gets up and heads to the door.
"who is it?"
"i'm here for Lucas"
"he is in bed, he went to bed at 1130"
"i'm here for Lucas"
"he is in bed!"
"i'm here for...Lucas"
......
Obviously, the conversation went no where and she appeared to have just come from another party.
"let her in" I tell Wes. He opens the door.. the poor girl is all of 90 pounds and her bike is twice her size. After a conversation with Ryan about where to put her bike on the porch so it won't get stolen, they decide the kitchen would be best. They stand and watch as she struggles, trying to get the bike inside. "Wes, help the woman!" I say. He then lugs the bike inside and she stumbles around it, almost falling. It was at this moment we all saw it. When she stumbled, her arm which was previously tucked away under her shirt, was pulled out to catch her balance. Her arm, which from shoulder to wrist was a normal arm, was missing vital length. There was no hand attached. It caught us all a little by surprise not because she didn't have a hand, lots of people are missing limbs. It caught us by surprise because she was riding that gigantic bike at 230am in greeley, by herself. Because she had lugged the bike up the porch steps. Because she hid it so well before the almost fall. Because she was so adamant about seeing Lucas right then. So, we explained where his room was and off she went.
w.t.f.
what was going on.
It was all so random. Abrupt laughter and confusion exploded in the living room. We had no idea why or how this was happening.
Moments later, Lucas came into the living room.
"why did you let her in?!" - Lucas
"its 230 in the morning and she rode her bike here!" - me
"you didn't have to show her to my room!" - Lucas
"bro...where did you meet her?" - Wes
"whiskey...why?" - Lucas
........
........
....uh.....
"she has one hand!" - Raechel
"what? no she doesn't" - Lucas
"um...yes. yes she does. her hand is cut. off." - Ryan
"you guys are dumb" - Lucas

Then, off he went, back to his room, no sooner did we hear his door shut, did we hear him running back to us. "okay, you guys were right. but i just looked like a complete ass", he says. "why?" we inquire. "because, you said her hand was cut off, i thought she had just got it caught in her bike or something so i go back there and pull her arm out as I ask 'what happened to your hand?!' she said she was born that way."
"hahahahhhahaha wow dude. thats messed up."

Since then, the story has only gotten funnier and by no means is it because she only has one hand. It is funny because this was probably the third time they had hung out and he had never noticed. Classic.

Never a dull moment.

Our First Party

Lucky for us, Sarra, Lucas, Kellsie, Jessi and Doug all share birthdays in the span of 2 weeks. To celebrate arguably, the coolest people ever, we threw a party. Clintopher headed up this project, including the guest list..of over 400 people. Yep. What a guy. He decided that his whole friends list should be included so that no one would feel left out. How nice :)
It, thankfully, was pretty uneventful and everyone seemed to have a good time. Here is how the night broke down.

100+ people
88 boys
44 beer pong cups
24 girls
7 ping pong balls
6 impaired roommates
2 pong tables
1 keg

Because of the first number, the keg ran out real quick. Because of the 2nd and 4th numbers, the party was relatively awkward. Because of the 3rd number, it was quite loud. The 5th number = messy party room. Because of the 6th number, a good time was had by all. 7th number = no space. And because of the last number...the party ended rather promptly at 1230.

All About The Noob

Haven't blogged since Aug 1...needless to say..a lot has happened.

The next blogs will fill you in.

This blog, however, is dedicated to the newest member of The Duplex, Jordan Rittenhouse.
Jordan is a complex creature.
Things you would know about Jordan if you walked into his room:
1. He likes video games.
2. He likes pizza.
3. He likes ninja turtles.
4. He likes beer.
5. He likes to be cold.
6. He likes ramen.
Things you would know about Jordan if you talked to hiim for 5 minutes:
1. He likes video games.
2. He likes pizza and wings.
3. He likes beer.
4. He likes star trek.
5. He likes sleeping.
6. He likes talking.
7. He likes video games.
Things you would know about Jordan if you lived with him for 5 months:
1. He likes video games.
2. He likes pizza and wings.
3. He LOVES sleeping.
4. He likes beer.
5. He HATES school.
6. He really, really likes ramen.
7. He is one of the most sarcastic people ever created.
8. He is a lightweight.

Basically, Jordan is awesome. He is extremely rude and unbarable at times, but then i remember it's his small stature that he is hurting about deep down, and he has to use his words to feel special. Jordan, if you're reading this, you are special. So special. I love you, friend. Keep on keepin on. Word. Swag. Shut up.

Okay, okay. In all honesty, i really enjoy hanging out with Jordan. He is tremendously smart and fun to hang out with. Despite his general nerd-esque qualities, he is one of the coolest guys i know and he is the perfect link to complete The Duplex of Swag.

Reunited

I was home for 3 weeks (almost all of July) which was wonderful and much needed.

However, i think they missed me.

David emailed me about a week and a half into my "vacation" and said, "where are you, roomie?! I think i've forgotten what you look like!"

I saw Lucas friday night at Sarah and Luke's engagement party and he interrupted a conversation i was having to give me a big hug and tell me how much he missed me. He also got brownie points because he noticed my hair cut and said i looked great. Good job, Lucas. Keep up the good work :)

I rolled in to the house about 2:15am saturday morning, about the same time as David, Kellsie and Ryan got home from the bars. David and Kellsie gave me an enthusiastic "welcome home!" before Ryan practically ran out of his car over to me, swooped me up off the ground and made me kick the air for him to put me down.

Clint didn't know i was home until saturday night, when he returned home from work and there was dinner on the stove, at which point he ate with me while we scrutinized the fascinating cast of the Jersey Shore.

I'm glad to be back, i missed them. I didn't miss the 800 degree sweat inducer that is our house but Clint got an AC unit so i'm sure if i keep cooking dinner, i'll be allowed to hang out up there in the delightfully chilly 75 degree room. :)

Thats it, i think i'm all caught up now. Sorry it had been so long.

The 4am Visitor

So, this happened awhile back and the visitor has wanted me to post it ever since so I guess that I shall comply.

it was probably my second or third week in the house and all the guys went out to the bars, I stayed home (probably watched Bieber or something of equal greatness). I was going to bed right as they were coming home, i quickly got up and turned off the light and got into bed so i wouldn't have to talk to them (classy, eh?). I hear loud conversations and then "shhh! sarra's asleep!!!" and then more loud talk before the hustle and bustle quieted down and all was well. off to sleep land i went.

at around 4am i am woken up by Lucas sitting on the side of my bed, staring straight ahead, across the room. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!" i ask him. "waiting for you to scoot over," he says.

i'm thinking, "what the heck is happening. he has a king sized bed. i have a twin. is he sleep walking or drunk? is this a joke? why is this happening. i should move out."

i say, "go away!" and roll over towards the wall and go to sleep. all of a sudden i feel him lay down. WHAT.IS.GOING.ON.

"lucas, why are you here??" i whine. he swiftly replies, "your bed is more comfortable."

say what. this is just ridiculous.

and just like that, the kid is asleep. really? wow. i try waking him up at least three times, all of which he lifts his head, looks around (i'm hoping he'll realize its not his room and he'll leave, which never happens) and then goes back to sleep. precious, eh?

as i lay there trying to figure out what is happening, i finally smack his back and ask him one last time, "why are you here?!" he says, ".......i dont know?" and gets up and leaves.

good times, eh?

oh and ps-my door now remains locked at all nighttime hours.
