There we were, sitting in the living room. Wesley, Raechel, Ryan and I were all in the living room...chillin. Everyone else had gone to bed, the only one you need know about in particular is Lucas. Anyways, back to the living room. We were playing some cards, drinking some buds when all of a sudden, our porch flood light came on.
ps-it's 2:30am
Raechel, immediately slides to the floor. She...probably all of us...think its some rando drunkard. Ryan, sitting right in front of the window, turns around and peeks out. He whispers back, "it's a girl. she has a bike." At this point, I am no longer scared, I think she is one of two people. The first being one of our many female neighbors, the second being someone Lucas had called when we all started hanging out earlier that night (around 1030). However, I must've been the only one with this thought process because Raechel remained on the floor and the guys continued to stay in their seats.
Ryan continues watching through the window, "she is trying to get her bike up the steps. she is tiny. she only has....no way....she only has one hand", he says. "SHE WHAT?!?! what is going on?!!" Raechel says - still whispering. Next thing we know, she is jiggling the door knob to enter our house. No knock, no nothing. Rude. At this point, Wes gets up and heads to the door.
"who is it?"
"i'm here for Lucas"
"he is in bed, he went to bed at 1130"
"i'm here for Lucas"
"he is in bed!"
"i'm here for...Lucas"
......
Obviously, the conversation went no where and she appeared to have just come from another party.
"let her in" I tell Wes. He opens the door.. the poor girl is all of 90 pounds and her bike is twice her size. After a conversation with Ryan about where to put her bike on the porch so it won't get stolen, they decide the kitchen would be best. They stand and watch as she struggles, trying to get the bike inside. "Wes, help the woman!" I say. He then lugs the bike inside and she stumbles around it, almost falling. It was at this moment we all saw it. When she stumbled, her arm which was previously tucked away under her shirt, was pulled out to catch her balance. Her arm, which from shoulder to wrist was a normal arm, was missing vital length. There was no hand attached. It caught us all a little by surprise not because she didn't have a hand, lots of people are missing limbs. It caught us by surprise because she was riding that gigantic bike at 230am in greeley, by herself. Because she had lugged the bike up the porch steps. Because she hid it so well before the almost fall. Because she was so adamant about seeing Lucas right then. So, we explained where his room was and off she went.
w.t.f.
what was going on.
It was all so random. Abrupt laughter and confusion exploded in the living room. We had no idea why or how this was happening.
Moments later, Lucas came into the living room.
"why did you let her in?!" - Lucas
"its 230 in the morning and she rode her bike here!" - me
"you didn't have to show her to my room!" - Lucas
"bro...where did you meet her?" - Wes
"whiskey...why?" - Lucas
........
........
....uh.....
"she has one hand!" - Raechel
"what? no she doesn't" - Lucas
"um...yes. yes she does. her hand is cut. off." - Ryan
"you guys are dumb" - Lucas
Then, off he went, back to his room, no sooner did we hear his door shut, did we hear him running back to us. "okay, you guys were right. but i just looked like a complete ass", he says. "why?" we inquire. "because, you said her hand was cut off, i thought she had just got it caught in her bike or something so i go back there and pull her arm out as I ask 'what happened to your hand?!' she said she was born that way."
"hahahahhhahaha wow dude. thats messed up."
Since then, the story has only gotten funnier and by no means is it because she only has one hand. It is funny because this was probably the third time they had hung out and he had never noticed. Classic.
Never a dull moment.
out.
